Bernard Manduca's letter (April 3) accusing me of "personal expediency" is an insult to my integrity.

His letter of March 18 was not so erudite that it "has gone right over her head", as he has the audacity to claim.

Triq is-Sidra, let me assure him, has been "an insurer's nightmare" for many years because of the disgusting driving manners of many people who seem to believe that they have a right to dart through the street as if it were their private road.

Moreover, the street is not wide enough to take the heavy volume of two-way traffic that has rendered it an artery connecting Swieqi and L-Ibrag.

Triq is-Sidra has long been a driver's nightmare and it is only my driving expertise that has always spared me from a bad crash.

If Mr Manduca is "concerned with the safety of Swieqi as a whole", let it be known that so am I.

When Mr Manduca uses Triq is-Sidra "on average 10 times a day at sporadic times", does he do so in the small hours perhaps when traffic is calm and the residents are asleep?

As a Triq is-Sidra resident I have never held that I "have a monopoly on inconvenience".

May I ask: Does Mr Manduca have a monopoly on Swieqi?
