Three men yesterday forced their way into the Qormi home of an elderly woman and robbed her of some money, the police said.

A family member said the woman, 71, was slightly injured and the robbers took her pension, which amounted to about Lm150. The men knocked at her house in Valley Road at about 4 p.m. When she opened they asked to speak to some children who sometimes visited her.

The source said they then pushed her to the floor and threatened her with a knife which they took from a drawer. Initially, the woman tried to resist but she finally gave them her pension.

The woman was later treated for cuts and facial bruises as well as shock.

An inquiry was ordered by duty magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrara.
