Malta lost their second match in the European Championship in Slovenia when yesterday they were beaten by the hosts 10-6.

According to ASA president Robert Ebejer, Pierre Borg's side played an exceptional game with all players pulling their weight.

However, he singled out Sirens goalkeeper Alan Grech for a splendid performance that inspired his team-mates and kept the side in contention.

Malta lost the first session 2-0. At half-way mark, however, the score was at 4-4 as the Maltese won the second session 4-2, Steve Camilleri, John Soler, Niki Lanzon and Matthew Pisani scoring the goals.

Slovenia's superior technique showed during the third quarter in which the hosts emerged winners 6-2, Soler again, and Matthew Zam-mit being the scorers. There were no goals in the last quarter.

This was Malta's second defeat in the championship having lost to Slovakia 15-4 on Friday.

In a previous encounter yesterday, Slovakia beat France 11-10.

This morning at 11.30 Malta play their final game against France.
