SWITCH, a grouping supported by most University students' groups, won all nine contested posts at the election for the University Students' Council (KSU) on Thursday.
It was the first time that an election was held in four years but turnout was low, at just under 20 per cent.
Switch won 50.2 per cent, although some of its individual candidates won stronger support. The election was also contested by In touch, which was headed by former or serving KSU members.
David Herrera was elected KSU president, David Ciliberti, general secretary, Chris Grech, finance officer, Emanuel Bonnici, PRO, Veronique Muscat communications commissioner (uncontested), Christine Murphy, international office co-ordinator, Jeremy Vassallo, education commissioner, Ivan Zammit, social policy commissioner, and Eman Pulis and Keith Vella, culture and entertainment officers.
A second post for the education commission has to be filled by a person nominated by students' organisations.
