My heart goes out to Anthony Girard (March 2), Vincent Galea (March 16) and Maria Dolores Spiteri (March 25).

Volumes have been written in the newspapers about the sorry, sad and sickening state of a number of roads in Zebbug.

I refer in particular to Triq Mikiel Ang Sapiano, Triq il-Buskett, leading past Sant'Andrija Cemetery to San Blas Therapeutic Community.

Triq Mikiel Ang Sapiano was definitely reduced to its present sorry state because of the excessive, daily, extra thousands of vehicles using it during the many months Triq l-Imdina was being prepared for the CHOGM meeting.

What a sad state of affairs for this "holey" village. We residents deserve and demand our basic human rights. They are certainly being trampled upon in this village.

Strange that none of the other Mediterranean countries seem to have the "Maltese pothole" problem, apart from when there is conflict in their lands! I witnessed that at first hand on the idyllic island of Cyprus in 1974, when Turkey invaded the island, while I was serving in the British Army.

Finally, is it not shocking that visitors to San Andrija Cemetry and San Blas Therapeutic Community are being doubly stressed as a result of this unacceptable situation?
