Big helping hand for WOW music marathon
Preparations are in full swing for this year's edition of the BJ's Music Marathon in aid of WOW (Wishing Others Well), the project of the Millennium chapel in Paceville to help people in need.
A welcome development for BJ's owner Philip Fenech was the branding of the marathon as The Palatino BJ's Music Marathon 2006 after Camilleri Wines decided to become the main official sponsor of the 17th edition.
The marathon will kick off on April 17 at 5 p.m. A sum of Lm100,000 have been collected throughout the past editions.
BJ's owner Philip Fenech said that apart from its philanthropic aim, the marathon is a music event aimed at preserving live music as a form of entertainment.
The uniqueness of the BJ's marathon lay in the fact that it manages to bring all styles of music together under one roof in an improvised style, he said.
Claudio Camilleri, head of sales and marketing at Camilleri Wines, said they were encouraging their business partners to support this charitable event.
"The synergy we are seeking to establish will surely be one of the main factors to ensure the success of this year's event," he said.
Musicians who would like to take part in the marathon are to contact Mr Fenech on 9949 3534 or BJ's Nightclub on 2137 7642 (after 10 pm).
Donations in aid of The Palatino BJ's Music Marathon 2006 may be made by sending an SMS on 5061 8077 for donations of Lm2, 5061 8924 for Lm3, or an SMS on 5061 9201 for donations of Lm5.
