The other Sunday, as I was driving along the Spinola promenade, a Citroen Saxo with a JET registration number, being driven by a young warden, was in front of my car. The vehicle's right hand tail light was completely smashed in. I tried to attract his attention but he would not stop, even when I hooted my horn.
The next day I saw the same vehicle again in Msida, with the broken tail light, and decided to report the abuse to the wardens' office nearby.
A man in a warden's uniform heard my complaint in the street, without even bothering to invite me into the building, and invented all sorts of excuses. I asked for a written explanation as to why the vehicle had not been instantly withdrawn from the road and got the abrupt reply: "I gave you an explanation already".
The wardens' garage around the corner in Furse Street had at least four other cars and six motorcycles ready for use.
This is really shameful. I would not expect a responsible entity of this calibre to break the law and get away with it. When we break the law we pay a fine.
