The Malta Environment and Planning Authority determined 673 applications last month and received 772 fresh applications.

The pending caseload at the end of the month reached 4,355.

Mepa processed 84 notifications of development, which do not require a formal application.

In the same month, 95 stop and enforcement notices were issued, 20 of them in Gozo.

A total of 264 enforcement cases were closed, 106 in Malta and the rest in Gozo. Out of these, 178 cases were sanctioned by the issue of a permit. Another 74 cases were resolved when the owners decided to remove an illegal development in compliance with an enforcement notice.

Ten cases were withdrawn by Mepa.

Following the payment due for direct action carried out in previous years, another two enforcement cases were closed.

Eighteen cases received at the Complaints Office were resolved without the need of enforcement action, because the owners complied with instructions by Mepa enforcement officers.
