Congratulations to the Mosta local council for the road resurfacing initiative at Triq Patri Guzè Delia in the Ta' Zokkrija area!
Our council really deserves a pat on the back for its show of project planning expertise. The works were initiated without the residents' knowledge; we actually arrived back home to find that we cannot drive our car into the garage. The garage access ramp was removed and it was only a matter of luck not to end up with an unusable car locked up in the garage.
But wait a minute...perhaps this happens in most cases of such road resurfacing projects. Perhaps it has become an endorsed "best practice" model to avoid delays!
In our case, the road's new surface works were halted only a few hours after being started. Somebody realised that the water mains needed to be replaced first. Now the project is at a standstill and most of the residents have ended up with a miserable road that one can hardly drive through. Further to that, nobody can use the garage to house one's car.
A few days ago, I was told that somebody with a truck came around and dropped some debris in front of garages to allow residents to take their cars in. However, half-way through the process all the rubble was used up and a substantial number of residents, who mostly happened to be away from home at that time, ended up without a "rubble garage ramp".
All this is happening in an area that has been neglected for years and after it has become the dumping place of Mosta's most dangerous and annoying activity that nobody wants in front of his house - the village "festivity back-office"!
