William Flynn has a penchant for forgetting what he writes in previous letters (March 24). In reply to my first letter noting with interest the contrast between Mr Flynn's opinion, against Christ's image on the Maltese euro and "...on any currency", and facts of Vatican coinage with the image of Christ exposed by Alfred Zahra De Domenico in the same issue of The Times (February 16), Mr Flynn said that it was Christian images on the euro that he objected to.
Since then he has done his homework and shifted goal posts in his answers to my letters. When I pointed out that Christian images had been utilised on the Vatican's commemorative euro coinage, Mr Flynn replied that the Vatican's commemorative coins are just collector coins and "not EU currency at all". To this I advise Mr Flynn to take a commemorative Vatican coin with him the first time he travels to Europe and I assure him that it will be accepted just as the commemorative coins of France, Italy and other EU countries are, even though they are of different values from the standard euro coinage.
Mr Flynn says: "The obsolete lira and the archaic skudo are irrelevant to the euro era" (March 24) forgetting that in a previous letter (February 16) he talked about "monetary cash integer on spiritual grace..." of about 500 years ago, well before the euro era! He forgot that in previous letters he said "But to put Christ's image on any currency..." not excluding the currencies mentioned by Mr Zahra De Domenico.
It is also clear who has the penchant for not comparing lettuce to lettuce. As I said before, Mr Flynn is expert in mixing lettuce with various other ingredients spanning over 500 years.
Since Mr Flynn has the habit of shifting the argument and I do not wish to bore readers I shall not be writing again on this subject.
