On Friday, Badminton Association general secretary John Attard will be taking part in the second meeting of the Confederation of Mediterranean Badminton (CoMeBa) in the Dutch city of Hertogenbosch.

This meeting will be a continuation of the first CoMeBa assembly in Rome last December.

CoMeBa was set up primarily to foster badminton within the region while promoting the diverse interests of its member countries on the international scene.

In addition to Malta, Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Montenegro, Morocco, Spain, Syria and Turkey have already confirmed their presence at the meeting.

For the first time in its history, the Maltese association has been given a proxy to represent another country that cannot attend the meeting. In fact, Attard has accepted the request of Gibraltar to represent its badminton interests during the CoMeBa meeting.

CoMeBa is gradually gaining momentum and will be organising its first major competitive activity next July in Casablanca, Morocco.

While in Hertogenbosch, Attard will also be attending the annual delegates meeting of the European Badminton Union.
