The number of cable and digital television subscriptions rose by 3.5 per cent in February compared to January, to reach a total of 123,632 or 30.9 subscriptions per 100 persons.
According to National Statistics Office figures, the number of analogue subscriptions fell by 4.2 per cent while digital subscriptions increased by 28.5 per cent.
There was a slight rise in both narrowband and broadband internet subscriptions, to reach 46,857 and 42,509 respectively, or 22.3 per 100 persons in all.
The number of mobile telephones reached 327,346 in February, which means 81.8 per cent of the population now owns one. Contract-based mobile telephone subscriptions were recorded at 27,592 while card-plan subscriptions reached 299,754.
Around 14 million minutes were used on the mobile telephone networks while those directed to the fixed-line network amounted to 1.5 million. The mobile communication traffic included 35.9 million SMSs, 67,255 MMSs, and 17,755 WAPs.
Around 53 million minutes were used in fixed-line telephony on local calls, with some 37 million minutes from residential subscriptions and the rest from business premises subscriptions.
International fixed-telephony traffic comprised 528,626 calls, equivalent to around 2.7 million minutes.
VOIP minutes were estimated at around 0.6 million.
