Online anthology for Maltese poetry

Poezijaplus and AZ Creations are working on an ambitious project of creating an online anthology for Maltese poetry.

"Maltese poetry is much more alive than we think. Judging by the experience of Poezijaplus, interest in poetry is always on the increase. More people are attending regularly the monthly events held by Poezijaplus. This is Poezijaplus' seventh year of activity. Each year it presents no fewer than 11 literary evenings and people just keep coming," the organisation's PRO, Sergio Grech, said.

"Malta has a good number of poets whose contribution towards this disregarded art is very solid. What we need is more marketing for poetry and Poezijaplus and AZ Creations are making their contribution through this initiative. Poezijaplus and AZ Creations are giving their share to make the local poetry known to both Maltese and foreigners who might be interested. AZ Creations are sponsoring this and participants will not pay a cent," Mr Grech added.

Every poet will have a page for himself/herself in the website. The page will consist of a photo, two poems (one in Maltese and the other in any foreign language) and the poets' URL and e-mail. In this way a permanent database will be created, the promoters said.
