Sheringham: The evergreen Teddy Sheringham is eager to mark his 40th birthday with a place in West Ham's attack for the London derby against Charlton Athletic today. If selected for the game at Upton Park, the former England striker will join the likes of midfielder Gordon Strachan and goalkeeper John Burridge, who also played in the top division in their 40s. Sheringham has had a distinguished 24-year career including more than 700 matches, almost 350 goals and 51 England caps.
Solskjaer: Norwegian striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has agreed a new two-year deal with Man. United and plans a coaching career at Old Trafford. Solskjaer, who joined United 10 years ago, has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons. His new deal takes him through to 2008.
Rangers: Rangers midfielder Brahim Hemdani insisted there should be no French revolution at Ibrox when Paul Le Guen takes charge at the end of the season. "I think it will be his choice, but I don't think it will be a French revolution or something like that because the club must keep its identity," Frenchman Hemdani told reporters.
Rivaldo: Brazilian playmaker Rivaldo has signed a one-year contract extension with Olympiakos Piraeus after helping them win the Greek league and cup double last season. The 33-year-old World Cup winner, who joined Olympiakos in 2004, had a contract that was due to expire on June 12. Greek media reports said the new deal is worth 1.9 million euros.
Robert: Benfica's French winger Laurent Robert believes his team can knock hot favourites Barcelona out of the Champions League quarter-finals next week.
