A large area of the grounds at Mtarfa Primary School is being turned into a pleasant nature area: this with the enthusiastic help of BirdLife Malta. Members of the organisation recently planned the nature area and cut passages.

A ceremony of inauguration took place at the end of February when Victor Falzon and Victor Fiott helped the pupils plant endemic trees and shrubs. Before the tree-planting ceremony, the school's green leaders read poems by Dun Karm and Oliver Friggieri in praise and appreciation of the natural Maltese environment.

Stickers with names of wild flowers and plants will be stuck in the appropriate places. The pupils at Mtarfa Primary School can thus study the wild flora and fauna on the spot. Children will also take photos of the wild flowers, name them and form albums to be sent to their friends in Poland, Spain and England as part of the Comenius project.
