The European University will continue to develop its Malta centre with the launch of the school of psychology in September this year. Furthermore, plans are in the pipeline to make Malta a hub for both the university's creativity centre as well as GAME (Global Alliance for Management Executives).
The institution has developed into a network of different campuses throughout Europe as well as in Asia. This broad network encourages students to participate in inter-campus exchanges in countries like Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Greece, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. The European University offers not only the traditional Bachelor and Master programmes in Business Administration but also 11 fields of management education.
The first goal of the European University is to bring a dynamic model to the world by relating classroom theory to professional skills. Courses are taught using the case study method to prevent business theory from remaining abstract and incomprehensible.
The philosophy can easily summarise the teaching principles; leadership, excellence, innovation, student care, passion, integrity and pragmatic approach.
One of the advantages of the university is the internationalisation of its programmes by providing a unique environment not only due to the students who represent more than 95 nationalities but also its professors, who come from five continents. All courses are taught in English. In addition, the university's Bachelor programmes take three years to complete in accordance with the Treaty of Bologna.
The European University has developed new programmes to suit the increasingly challenging needs of the market.
In addition to programmes like Business Administration, Information Systems, Communication and Public Relations, Leisure and Tourism Management, Multimedia Management, Human Resource Management and Sports Management, the institute has recently launched the Bachelor of Wealth Management, Bachelor of Luxury Brand Management, Bachelor of Global Lifestyle Management, Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of International Law. These will be available from October this year.
The European University has established a Creativity Centre called "the four principles" which aims to develop the participants' creativity by employing the emotional and rational parts of the brain.
The university has decided to concentrate its courses on creative thinking instead of rational thinking as is the case with traditional teaching. It has also launched an Internet-based e-learning system, which makes use of the latest Internet technologies to provide the students with a competitive, flexible and effective learning environment.
Part of the university's philosophy of education is to offer its students a personalised approach, flexibility and tailor-made courses. This ensures that MBA students have the possibility of pursuing higher education while balancing the demands of full-time employment, family and other obligations.
Graduate programmes take one full-time year or two part-time years to complete. The university also offers executive, flex and cross MBA programmes that are carefully structured to equip executives with the knowledge required to assume the responsibilities of leadership.
A new programme will start soon in co-operation with partners in Montreux (Switzerland): Casino Barriere, and Singapore: Shines. This MBA programme is specialised in Casino Management.
The university aims to prepare its students for success in such a global marketplace. Graduates go on to positions in management, marketing, consulting, finance and PR in major corporations and organisations.
Furthermore, the EU launched GAME a few years ago. The aim of GAME is to offer top management executive courses in all fields of management that offer open and tailored programmes to participants.
These executive courses can be delivered with the new method of teaching consisting of half the courses on site in Europe ("hi touch") and half the courses by distance-learning through video conferencing and the Internet.
The courses can be given in different formats: workshops, seminars or conferences using technology and talent to deliver what is needed when needed.
GAME has been specially designed for participants looking for continuous learning, innovation and improvement. Organisations that invest in training in education estimate that for every dollar spent, there will be a return of approximately 20-30.
All the benefits, uniquely offered to students of the European University, work in combination to provide business people of the future with all they need to prepare themselves for the world of work which awaits them.
