Obituary
CHIRCOP. On March 28, at his residence in Sta Venera, Mro. ANTHONY CHIRCOP, Director of Music, aged 76, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children May, wife of Kevin Russell, Jacqueline, wife of Charles Cutajar, his grandchildren Lynn, Jeanette, Peter, Claire and Norma, his brothers Louis and Raymond, his sister Agnes, in-laws, their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves his residence today at 1.45 p.m. for St Joseph High Road (near the Sta Venera Local Council office), proceeding to Sta Venera new parish church, accompanied by the Armed Forces of Malta band, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement will be appreciated.
CRONIN. On March 29, CATHERINE née Portelli. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Francis and Victor, her sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.45 p.m. at Christ the King parish church, Paola, followed by interment at Tarxien Cemetery.

Translation Lectures
The university's department of Maltese will be holding three lectures by Frieda Steurs, head of the department of translation and interpretation at Lessius Hogeschool, Antwerp, and president of the Commission for Terminology of the Dutch Language Union, between Tuesday and April 6 at 7 p.m.
The first lecture deals with the Conceptual And Terminological Problems In Technical Translation and will be held at GW Hall A; a lecture on Terminology Planning, Standardisation And Management will follow on Wednesday at GW Hall D1 and the Creation And Management Of A Virtual Terminology Information Centre lecture will be held on Thursday at GW Hall A.

Lenten Reflections
The Millennium chapel will be hosting lenten reflections for youths and young married couples who wish to explore the meaning and relevance of religious beliefs to their daily lives.
Fr Ray Francalanza will be hosting the discussions which will be held at the chapel's WOW centre, in Paceville, between April 3 and 5 at 7.30 p.m.
To touch base with reality, the lenten reflections will be centred on three films that will be shown on three separate occasions and discussed with the participants. The films to be shown are Chocolat, Tuesdays With Morrie and Joshua.
AD/HD Books
A number of books to supplement the AD/HD Family Support Group's library in Hamrun were purchased with the money raised by Institute of Health Care student nurses at a car wash held in December 2005.
All books can be loaned from the offices, which are open on the first and last Fridays of the month from 10 a.m. to noon, and on the second and third Fridays of the month from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m.

RMA meeting
The annual general meeting of the Royal Malta Artillery Association will be held at the Catholic Institute, in Floriana, on April 8 at 10.30 a.m. A wreath laying ceremony will be held beforehand at the RMA memorial, also in Floriana, at 10 a.m.
Peace Of Heart
A seminar on achieving true peace of heart will be held on April 5 between 6 and 8.30 p.m. at Mount St Joseph, in Mosta. Fr Arthur G. Vella will conduct the seminar.
Power Cuts
The electricity supply will be suspended between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. today in parts of Il-Linja, Mario Cortis and Il-Kampanella streets, Attard.
EU funds
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a call for expressions of interest in EU funds aimed at assisting interest groups in keeping abreast of developments in the Union and taking a more active part in decision making.
The money will come from the Civil Society Fund as part of the Forum Malta In Europe. The fund is administered by a committee, composed of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It assists constituted bodies and representative organisations in:
¤ providing EU-related information and advice to their members;
¤ organising courses, conferences, seminars and other fora of discussion in Malta directly related to the acquis communautaire on topics relevant to their membership;
¤ covering expenses related to participation in conferences, seminars and meetings abroad on matters directly related to the EU;
¤ covering expenses incurred in bringing over officials from the EU, or from institutions directly related, to discuss topics with an EU dimension of direct interest to their members;
¤ attending familiarisation visits and specialised immersion programmes of the EU institutions and other bodies;
¤ reaching any other related objective approved by the Committee.
Constituted bodies, non-governmental organisations, representative organisations and interest groups are initially required to express their interest in benefiting from a share of these funds, in line with the objectives set out, by writing to the head, Committee for the Civil Society Fund, Forum Malta in Europe, 280 Republic Street, Valletta VLT 04, by April 7.
Application forms and conditions may be downloaded from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
Those eligible will be requested to submit their project proposals by April 17. This would need to include details of all activities envisaged for 2006, together with a breakdown of the anticipated costs for each activity.

Lasallian schools congress
A congress sponsored by the European Association of Heads of Lasallian Schools (ASSEDIL) will be held between tomorrow and Monday at the Dolmen Hotel, St Paul's Bay.
Dealing with Leading And
Managing A Lasallian School In A Changing Society, the congress will include workshops and lectures by prominent speakers.
Tomorrow, former Education Minister and President Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici will open the conference with a presentation entitled Malta: A Cultural Synopsis.
Then, on Saturday, Michel Bertet will discuss the Characteristics Of A Lasallian School and Terry Collins will focus on the Challenges Facing Leaders.
On Sunday, Herman Lombaerts will talk on multi cultural and multi faith challenges and on Monday, reports of the regional Lasallian head teachers' conferences will be read out.
Reward scheme
Gasan's Automotive Division has launched G-Plus at the Motor Fair being held at the Trade Fair Grounds, in Naxxar.
The scheme rewards clients who repeatedly take their vehicles to the Gasan workshop for servicing and for buying spare parts.
The G-Plus scheme has three tiers: silver, gold and platinum. Each tier offers incentives based on a point system. Points gained are redeemable for service and repair work or parts bought from Gasan.
Funds for charity
A youth organisation called TDM Malta will be holding fund-raising activities to restore the physiotherapy gym at Dar Tal-Providenza, the residential homes for the handicapped in Siggiewi.
The first activity is due on Saturday at the Hilton between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The event will include a swim in an indoor heated pool at the Livingwell Health Club to promote exercise and working out.
TDM encourages young people to become more actively involved in social issues.
Music Certificates
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce held its annual concert and presentation of certificates to students who were successful in the London College of Music 2005 examinations in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 in both theory and practical music.
The event took place at Palazzo De La Salle, in Valletta, where students played pieces by Turina, Mazio, Clementi, Poulenc, Beethoven and Lantier, on the piano, the clarinet, guitar and saxophone.
F1 race
The third round of the 2006 Formula One Championship in Melbourne, Australia, will be projected on a big screen at The Halland Hotel, Ta' L-Ibrag, on Sunday at 6 a.m. The event is organised by the McLaren F1 Club in Malta.
