There were 7,669 persons registering for work with the Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) at the end of last month, representing an increase of 28 over January, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

But when compared to the figures for February 2005, the number of registered unemployed dropped by 425.

Last October the unemployment rate stood at 4.9 per cent of the labour supply. The male unemployment rate stood at 5.4 while the female rate stood at 3.7 per cent. The long-term unemployment rate was 1.8 per cent.
