With both teams having several players missing, Hamrun relied on a strong opening that paved the way to victory. The champions thus made sure of the top placing at the end of the regular season.

Turning the ball around well and with some excellent shooting, particularly from Omar Said, Hamrun quickly opened a commanding lead and victory was rarely in doubt.

There were a number of substitutions in the second session and the changes saw Siggiewi coming more into the picture. Before the interval, they managed to reduce the gap to 41-28.

After a balanced third session, with both sides answering each other's baskets, Siggiewi were more accurate from the shooting line to get within striking distance.

However, Hamrun, led by their captain Albert Spiteri, stopped the rot when only seven points were separating both sides. The champions controlled their advantage till the final whistle to avoid any surprises from the underdogs.

Bupa Luxol 60
Pembroke 71
(18-6, 11-19, 12-20, 19-26)

Pembroke came from behind to beat Luxol and notch their seventh victory in the regular season.

It was Luxol who had the better start as Pembroke failed to make things work in attack against their opponents' aggressive defence. Thanks mainly to their sharp shooting, Luxol ended the first quarter 12 points in front.

Pembroke showed improvement as the second quarter got underway. Luxol suddenly lost their touch and Joe Galea's men profited from the situation to narrow the gap to four points by half-time - 29-25.

With Luxol failing to lift their game after the interval, Pembroke continued to show better qualities. After managing to level the score at 39-all, with two minutes left, they took the lead for the first time to start the last ten minutes 45-41 in front.

Two three-pointers saw Pembroke extending their lead. A few weeks ago Luxol beat Pembroke in the KO final but this time they were unable to repeat that feat even though at one stage they were only a basket behind.
