British actor Sir Roger Moore, star of seven James Bond films, arrived here on Saturday afternoon on a four-day visit.
Sir Roger who played James Bond was born in Stockwell, London, England on 14th October 1927.
He was James Bond in Live And Let Die (1973), The Man With The Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View To A Kill (1985).
In 1976, he played one of the leading roles in Shout at the Devil shot in Malta. The film, based on the novel by Wilbur Smith, is an adventure story set in Zanzibar in 1913 and is very loosely inspired by real events. The film also starred Lee Marvin and was directed by Peter Hunt.
Sir Roger was made CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in March 1999. He was knighted in June 2003 for his work with Unicef.
The 79-year-old actor, handsome as ever, is here together with his fourth wife Christina (Kiki) Tholstrup. The purpose of his visit is not known.
The old Bond last month came to the rescue of the new Bond, telling critics of the film franchise's new star, Daniel Craig, that they should give him a chance.
"He's a helluva good actor," Sir Roger said.
