Young people who feel they have a great idea for a new business have the chance to test their talents in the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Malta Best Business Plan Competition.

Now entering its fifth year, the competition, supported by HSBC Bank Malta and KPMG Malta, gives individuals the opportunity to put their business ideas forward.

This year, the winning business plan will receive Lm1,000 while the first runner-up will be awarded a cash prize of Lm250.

The winner will automatically take part in JCI's Best Business Plan Competition with the possibility of winning US$5,000 in cash as start-up funding, as well as an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2006 JCI World Congress to be held in Seoul, Korea.

"Through this competition, JCI Malta encourages a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among young Maltese. This sustains JCI Malta's mission to be the forum for the development of bold and stimulating leaders within our community," JCI Malta national president Elaine Tabone Adami said.

Participation in the local competition is open to all Maltese residents aged between 18 and 40. Membership of JCI Malta is not a prerequisite for participation, however, the Lm10 application fee will automatically include a one-year membership in the organisation.

More information and an application form can be obtained from the JCI Malta website or by sending an e-mail to bbp2006@jci.org.mt, tel: 9948 8509.

The deadline for the submission of a business plan is May 12.
