Mariapoli 2006

The Focolare Movement is organising its annual Mariapoli from Friday to Sunday at the Corinthia Jerma Palace Hotel, Marsascala.

In today's world, with all its problems and controversies, we cannot but acknowledge that there exists, in the heart of many, a thirst for greater unity at all levels, starting from the micro - the family - up to the macro - nations, continents, all the world over.

Though the achievement of the 'global village' has a price, which is sometimes too high, it promotes an unquestionable positive value: it has become virtually impossible to live isolated on a 'happy island' without the knowledge of what's going on elsewhere, without in some way caring about others.

The spirituality of unity, which Pope John Paul II also called the spirituality of communion while referring to it in his encyclical Novo Millennio Ineunte, offers man today a way of living which focuses on the love of neighbour, mutual love among people and at the same time opens the possibility for a deeper relationship with God, notwithstanding the 'noise', the rush and the crowds which characterise our life today.

This year's Mariapoli intends to offer to all those who participate a deeper insight into the spirituality of unity. The programme will also include sessions dedicated to themes such as ethics and politics and the impact that the new culture emanating from the spirituality of unity of the Focolare Movement is having on them and on society at large.
