So, according to Nadette Bugeja, PRO of the Malta Song board, the selection process for the collaboration of a radio station with the Malta Song Festival is based on the broadcasting surveys (The Sunday Times, March 12).

Well, in that case then, Super one or Calypso should have been chosen by right! They topped the surveys.

For reasons, crystal clear to me, Ms Bugeja managed to twist the gist of my letter to say that "I had a problem with the fact that Bay Radio was chosen and not Xfm", when I simply questioned what process was used and why other radio stations were not asked to participate. Having not denied it, Ms Bugeja also confirmed that the deal was done on a purely cross-promotional basis, a barter!

Just for the record, thousands of loyal listeners have tuned into XFM since its inception and an endless list of advertisers have successfully exploited XFM's potential as a powerful tool to brand and heighten product awareness and company image.

As a tax-paying citizen, I suggest that instead of acting as PRO for other entities, Ms Bugeja and her board seriously get to work on next year's festival, at least to avoid last year's expensive flop.
