In reply to the letter by Anna Mallia regarding the theft of items from my luggage, I would like to say thank you for replying so promptly. It is a pity that Robbie Borg of British Jet couldn't reply as quickly.
I do agree that putting valuable items in luggage is asking for trouble but isn't any item packed classed as valuable to the person whose luggage it is?
I tried countless times to get a response from Malta International Airport but they never replied to e-mails or to phone calls. I don't care how many companies handle the baggage at the airport but when these thefts occur does anyone follow it up or is anyone sacked after an investigation, or do they just forget about it and hope it will blow over? Dr Mallia says she also had items stolen but did not explain what she did after she found the items gone.
British Jet is a cheap and cheerful company and I have no complaints with the staff. The only reason I went to them was the fact that no one at the airport would talk to me and British Jet offered to help me out. But six months is a long time to wait for an answer and I still don't have one.
I know my stolen items are now gone forever and I hope that the thief gets a lot of pleasure out of using my camera and wearing my watch.
Mr Borg knows my telephone number. I ask him to please talk to me directly and not through somebody else, if he is not too busy of course.
