Week 11 marked the end of round one of the Middlesea National League at the Eden SuperBowl. Leaders Aercomms obtained an impressive 6-2 win over outgoing champions Fina First in what was surely the confrontation of the week.
Fina's disappointment was further fuelled by Fina Excel's resounding 8-0 hammering of Right Deal which saw them climb into second place and relegating Fina First to third.
Aercomms vs Fina First matches are now the most eagerly awaited of the season, and this first clash between the two left nobody disappointed, other than Fina First who walked away as 6-2 losers.
Aercomms set off at a blistering pace, rolling the highest team game on national league records, a gargantuan 984 against Fina's 822, normally a game-winning score but leaving them a big 162 pins behind in this case.
Aercomms' game featured great individual efforts for Paul Baldacchino (286), Rankin Camilleri (267) and Kenneth Arpa (264). The leaders rode their winning wave into game two which they also took with ease but then their game fizzled out as Fina First came back to take game three 807-675 but finishing 172 shy of the series points (2,525-2,353).
New Blood chalked up the only other full point win of the week against Fireballs, while in other matches there were six-point wins for Interwetten Alley Catz against Ramis and Royal Shock against Swoosh. The match between Sammy's Embroideries and Globalair Travel ended in a draw.
