A Fgura man has been charged with threatening the Qormi mayor on Tuesday.

Anthony Mckay, 35, pleaded not guilty to insulting and threatening mayor Jesmond Aquilina in Qormi at about 5 p.m.

He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police Superintendent Lawrence Cutajar and Inspector Raymond D'anastas prosecuted.

Lawyer Franco Debono appeared for Mr Mckay.
