Local firm launches hotel booking website

The Maltese web site ChooseToTravel.com was launched last week by Inspire Ltd, owners of ChooseMalta.com, providing the facility for Maltese to book hotels worldwide online and with instant confirmation.

The site includes 40,000 hotels in 70 countries and offers users lower rates.

It features detailed information, images and a map of every hotel, as well as city guides.

"In 2006, one third of all travel will be sold online", said company director Jonathan Shaw.

"Travel planning and booking are among the most popular online activities and online travel sales are booming. Consumers can and want to research, plan and book their own travel needs, while travel agents can also affiliate themselves with ChooseToTravel.com and benefit from rates and a commission structure," he said.

Among the advantages of such as site is transparency in prices for a more educated consumer. Those who still feel uneasy about booking their hotel online can put their minds at rest that if they need more assistance they can call a local office, he said.

Growing Internet penetration, increased confidence among users, improved technology, products and content from online travel companies is leading to a growth in travel, Mr Shaw said.
