Nine new computing and information systems graduates hailing from St Martin's Institute of IT were conferred their Bachelor of Science degree by the Chancellor of the University of London, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, at the Barbican Centre in London last week.
Again this year, St Martin's students shone with four out of the five first class honours attained worldwide being St Martin's and Maltese students.
Among the first class graduates was Ludwig Zammit who apart from achieving a first class honours was also awarded the University of London prize for academic achievement for 2005.
Albert Attard, Joseph D'Emmanuele and Josef Mansueto attained a first class honours degree. Stefan Briffa, Mark Cilia, Gerard Said, Adrian Bonnet and Edward Xuereb all attained a second class honours degree in computing and information systems after reading for the four-year programme at St Martin's Institute of IT, a teaching institution for the University of London External Programme since 2000.
St Martin's attained nearly 50 per cent first class honours again this year after last year's similar success.
The institute currently has some 200 students reading degrees in business, computing, economics and management, either as full-time or part-time students, hailing from different EU and non-EU countries.
Students reading for their degrees at St Martin's must sit for exactly the same examination papers as those sat for by students who attend the lead college for the degree of the University of London.
Further details about these programmes will be given at an information meeting on Friday at 6 p.m. at St Martin's in Hamrun. Entrance is by invitation by phoning 21235451 or e-mail infodesk@stmartins.edu
