Sliema Wanderers are sweating on the fitness of key midfielders Joe Brincat and Stefan Giglio ahead of Sunday's BoV Premier League match against Msida St Joseph at the Hibs Ground.
Brincat suffered a knee injury during Saturday's last-gasp 2-1 win over Valletta and was forced to leave the pitch in the final stages of the match.
The veteran midfielder has a swollen knee that has prevented the medical staff at Sliema from identifying Brincat's injury.
Giglio has a better prospect of making the squad this weekend as the 27-year-old suffered a slight pull in his hamstring against Valletta.
Doctors say that he has a good chance of declaring himself fit for Sunday's match. Giglio's recovery would certainly be good news for coach Edward Aquilina who is already without Orosco Anonam, also out with a knee injury.
Striker Daniel Bogdanovic will also be back in the squad after a 28-day suspension was lifted on Monday.
Meanwhile, Malta coach Dusan Fitzel has called up the promising Sliema midfielder Roderick Bajada to start training with the national team.
Bajada, who impressed Fitzel with his outstanding performances for the Wanderers in recent weeks, attended his first training with the national team on Monday at the Ta' Qali training grounds.
