The fifth annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day, held by HSBC Cares For Children Fund, yesterday saw six companies joining forces to help various homes that look after people in need.

In addition to staff from HSBC, Farsons Group, Gasan Group and Mizzi Organisation, who have taken part every year, employees from Vodafone and M Demajo Group also rolled up their sleeves this year. During the course of the day, the volunteers also met President Eddie Fenech Adami, who visited St Joseph Home, in Sta Venera, to thank those present for their efforts.

Throughout the day, work was carried out at Dar tal-Kleru, in Birkirkara, Dar Qalb ta' Gesu, in Sta Venera, St Theresa Home, in Zurrieq, Residenza Vajrita, in Marsascala, and Dar Merhba Bik, in Balzan.

"CSR Day has really made a great difference to the quality of life of disadvantaged children. With hundreds of volunteers from Malta's leading companies every year giving up the feast of St Joseph the Worker, we have managed, in four years, to do the work that would have taken the homes themselves many years to complete. This year our team was strengthened with the participation of Vodafone and M Demajo Group, enabling us to further enhance our efforts," the chairman of HSBC Cares For Children Fund, Catherine Gonzi, said.
