The Annual Pharmacy Students' Symposium will be held between tomorrow and Friday at the Erin Serracino-Inglott Hall. Final year pharmacy students will be presenting their projects in various areas. On Wednesday, the session will be dedicated to research projects in the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr Pietro Bisiacchi and Nicholas Gingell from Starpharma, a pharmaceutical drug firm recently established in Malta, will be opening the session at 9.15 a.m. with a presentation on "Research and Development in the Pharmaceutical Industry". The Rector, Professor Roger Ellul-Micallef, will be participating in the symposium, which is being opened tomorrow by the Chancellor, Professor John Rizzo Naudi. During the closing ceremony on Friday a medal in recognition of services rendered to the profession will be presented to Dante Bonnici, a centenarian pharmacist.

During the symposium fourth-year students will be presenting progress on their project during poster discussion sessions while second and third-year students are presenting a poster. All pharmacists, other health care professionals, those in the pharmaceutical industry and anyone interested are invited to attend the symposium.
