The fifth annual 'Corporate Social Responsibility Day', organised by the HSBC Cares for Children Fund, will see the number of companies joining forces to help people in need increasing to six.

This year, in addition to staff from HSBC, the Farsons Group, the Gasan Group and the Mizzi Organisation, who have taken part every year, employees from Vodafone and M. Demajo Group will also be volunteering today to working on maintenance and landscaping in various homes.

"CSR Day has really made a great difference to the quality of life of disadvantaged children," HSBC Cares for Children Fund chairperson Catherine Gonzi said. "With hundreds of volunteers from Malta's leading companies every year giving up the feast of St Joseph the Worker, we have managed, in four years, to do the work that would have taken the homes themselves many years to complete.

"This year our team will be strengthened with the participation of Vodafone and M. Demajo Group, enabling us to further enhance our efforts."

The increased participation in this year's CSR Day will mean that work will be carried out in six homes. These include Dar tal-Kleru in Birkirkara, St Joseph Home and Dar Qalb ta' Gesù in St Venera, St Theresa Home in Zurrieq, Residenza Vajrita in Marsascala and Dar Merhba Bik in Balzan.
