During the past two weeks, the Malta Business Bureau, which represents the FOI, the Chamber of Commerce and the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, organised two information seminars.

The focus of the seminar on March 3 was on the new structural funds programme for Malta between 2007-2013.

This information session was chaired by MBB president Norman Aquilina and participants were addressed by MBB official Omar Cutajar.

Last Friday, the MBB, in conjunction with Bank of Valletta, organised a half-day conference on how the EU Regulatory Environment will impact Maltese financial services.

Speakers included Irmfried Schwimann, head of unit - Financial Services Policy, European Commission; Professor Joe Bannister, chairman, MFSA; Niall Bohan, head of unit, Asset Management, European Commission; Kenneth Farrugia, general manager, Valletta Fund Management; Dr Frank Chetcuti Dimech, CDF Advocates; and Tonio Fenech, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
