On February 25 the Duke of Connaught's Own Band of Birkirkara gave a successful concert at the University Auditorium in aid of an organisation called Family Counselling which will start functioning soon in all three Birkirkara parishes.

Attendance was free but the audience members were asked to make donations. A big hand must go to all the band players, and the soloists, their director Andrew Coleiro, the singers, the choir of Marie Therese Vassallo, and the committee members.

The programme was varied and included excerpts from Il Trovatore, operettas and traditional music, and performances by singer Aldo Busuttil who sang Miserere and Caruso. Four pipers also performed with the band.
