A number of employees from the National Archives, members of the Friends of the National Archives and representatives from Linguamine Ltd, will receive training on digitisation for archives.

This forms part of a project entitled "Preserving digital archival content" submitted by the National Archives last year for EU funding. The award ceremony for successful projects was held last year.

The project partners are the Open Society Archives in Hungary, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics in Bulgaria, Global Microfilm Digital SRL and Datadisc Ltd of Italy.

The exchanges will give participants first-hand experience on the digitisation of documents, long-term preservation policies and the opportunity to interact with a specialist in the field.

At the end of the project which spans one year, the experiences will be compiled in a manual on digitisation for archives. The first visit was held during the first week of March.
