Vicente del Bosque has left the door open for a possible return to Real Madrid as coach after previously having rejected such a move.
"Why shouldn't I return at some time," Del Bosque told radio station Onda Cero. "My track record is one of the best when compared to others being linked with the job. I have never done anything to damage the club."
Former Real president Florentino Perez sacked Del Bosque in June 2003, the day after the club collected their 29th league championship title.
A former midfielder at the club, he was promoted from within and steered Real to two European Cups and two league titles in his three and a half years in charge. In June 2004, Del Bosque said he had rejected the offer of a return as assistant coach, and has said that he was unhappy with the way he was discarded by the club.
Real, who are joint-second with Valencia in the Primera Liga, are currently coached by Juan Ramon Lopez Caro.
