A Valletta man has been charged with theft of electricity and insurance fraud.

Massimo Caruana, 26, pleaded not guilty to stealing between Lm100 and Lm1,000 worth of electricity on and before March 14.

He also pleaded not guilty to filing a false police report, insurance fraud, the illegal possession of a semi-automatic pistol and relapsing.

He was granted bail against a Lm500 deposit and a personal guarantee of the same amount.

Police Inspectors Silvio Valletta and Alfred Mallia prosecuted. Lawyer Joseph Giglio appeared for Mr Caruana.
