The Malta Transport Authority said yesterday that imported vehicles carrying foreign registration and used by any person residing in Malta will be removed from the road by the police as from April 3.
In accordance with the Motor Vehicles Regulations, any person who imports or brings into Malta a used vehicle registered in another country shall, within five working days following the vehicle's entry into Malta, notify the Malta Transport Authority with such importation and register the vehicle with the authority within 30 days of such notification.
Vehicles removed from the road by the police will only be returned to the owner if he has been acquitted by the court of the alleged offence, or has remedied his position at law and settled any registration tax and other fees, the authority said.
