Australian Pink Floyd to perform here again
Venue for Zarrillo concert announced
Pres - Production Event Services yesterday announced that the Australian Pink Floyd will once again perform here after requests made by Danish tour operators Bravo who will be organising tour packages from Denmark and Germany for the concert.
Pres also announced the venue for the Michele Zarrillo concert being held on April 30 - the Grandmaster's Theatre at the Hilton.
Besides a tour operating agency, Bravo also owns the popular TV and radio stations. The announcements were made by Pres director Mario Camilleri during a press conference at the Hilton.
"After constant requests made to our company by Bravo to organise another Floyd concert, and other requests made by the public, we decided to bring over the much sought-after Australian Pink Floyd some time in July," Mr Camilleri said.
A recent issue of the Chicago Tribune stated that "Pink Floyd will be returning to the beautiful island of Malta in July as part of their Spring Arena tour. Last year the band played to an estimated crowd of 15,000 and were simply incredible.
"The band is currently working on a spectacular reproduction of The Wall album, they would love to launch this summer during their tour."
The Zarrillo concert, which will form part of L'Alfabeto Degli Amanti tour, will bear the unique signature that characterises all the artiste's concerts, comprising elegance and sophistication.
Over the years, Zarrillo has penned a series of beautiful love songs including Cinque Giorni, Una Rosa Blu, La Notte Dei Pensieri, L'Acrobata, Gli Angeli and last but not least L'Alfabeto Degli Amanti, which he presented at this year's Sanremo festival.
Music critic Eric Montfort, who was present for the press conference, said: "Zarrillo is a very experienced artiste and the positive thing about his style is that the younger generation seems to be adopting this same kind of music."
The concert kicks off at 8.30 p.m. and the first 150 tickets will be sold at Lm15. The rest will sell for Lm18 (standard) and Golden Circle for Lm30.
