I refer to Joe Vella Bonnici's weekly column (March 7) and would like to clarify the following.

Mr Vella Bonnici incorrectly stated that the Emirates flight to Dubai makes a stopover in Tripoli. May I draw his attention and, at the same time, inform the readers of The Times, that for the last five months Emirates has been operating a totally different route to and from Malta. As from October 1, 2005, all Emirates flights departing from Malta go directly to Larnaca, in Cyprus, before proceeding to Dubai. Likewise, the return flight from Dubai makes a short stopover in Larnaca, before heading back to Malta.

Tripoli, the Libyan capital, is served by a direct return flight from Dubai.
