A 49-year-old man was yesterday charged with defiling a young boy and a girl.

Hugh Glass, a British national residing in Mellieha, pleaded not guilty to the defilement of a nine-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl on and before December last year.

He was denied bail at this stage.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera presided over the arraignment.

Police Inspector Louise Calleja prosecuted.

Lawyer Martin Fenech appeared for Mr Glass.
