The latest round of matches from the H2Only League saw more action from the First Division singles. This category is gradually developing into a two-horse race between Kenneth Vella and David Cole, both hailing from the Pawla Wolves club.
Both are undefeated after their first two encounters and lead the provisional table with the maximum four points.
Vella defeated Tony Xuereb 15-3 15-13 and Patrick Cassar 15-5 15-4. On his part, Cole beat Cassar 15-8 15-6 and then proceeded to notch another win against Xuereb 15-8 15-12.
Xuereb is equally on the four-point mark, having, however, played four matches. He won his encounters against Cassar 15-5 15-12 and Jacqueline De Giovanni 15-5 15-6.
The congestion at the top of the table may be resolved in the next round of matches, between March 22 and 23, which will see the direct encounter between Vella and Cole.
In Division Two doubles, brothers James and Michael Bugeja (Shuttles BC) secured the maximum four points by winning their initial encounters in straight sets against Joanne Vella/Norman Spiteri and Annalise Falzon/Keith Buhagiar.
The Bugejas are followed on the two-point mark by Vella/Spiteri and Msida Arrows pair Olga Fedotkina/Adrian Urpani.
Charles and Christianne Dimech (Pawla Wolves BC) seem to have a firm grip on the proceedings in Division Three doubles.
They lead the table with five points from three matches.
