The European University in Switzerland, represented locally by the European Institute of Education, will continue its investment in educational facilities in Malta. This decision was taken by the university's team, following the successful student intake last October.

A satisfactory number of local students have started their programmes and will be graduating next year. The university will be accepting student applications for the April 2006 intake of both the Diploma in Management and MBA degree programmes.

Over the past 30 years, the European University, which has its main campus in Montreux, Switzerland, has developed a business education that delivers both the highest quality teaching and a competitive edge learning environment.

The faculty members are all experienced academics or business professionals who bring current issues into the classroom. Students at the European University benefit both from the university's modern facilities and the secure environment of its different locations. When you visit one of the university's campuses or centres, you will immediately understand the university's collegial and friendly atmosphere.

Apart from Malta, the university has developed a network of several campuses in countries like Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Ireland and Brazil. This broad network encourages students to participate in inter-campus/centre exchange.

Antonello Cappitta, director of courses at EIE, said the European University focused on practical realities of managerial life with emphasis on wise, effective management. It differs from traditional business schools in three ways: the faculty has extensive business experience and instructors are actively engaged in business life; each of the programmes provides detailed insight into the practical aspects of its specialty; and the distinctive case studies give students practical experience in solving real world business problems.

"We are happy that the European University of Switzerland has extended its local commitment and Maltese students will be given a better opportunity to study and graduate with a prestigious Swiss university without the need of leaving the island to study," Mr Cappitta added.

All exams are conducted by the Examinations Department within the Education Division. The European Institute of Education is licensed by the Ministry of Education as a tertiary level tuition centre of the European University External Programmes.
