Obituary

CURMI. On March 10, ROSE née Martin, aged 84, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her most beloved husband George, her dear children Ann, Michael and his wife Anne, Margaret, widow of Paul Bonnici Mallia, Robert and his wife Joanna, Julian and his wife Maureen, Stephen and his wife Edna, her adored grandchildren Nicholas, Alex, Simon, Michael, Mark, Paula, Maria, Kristina, Andrew, Matthew and Timothy, her brothers and sisters, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish church, Ta' l-Ibrag, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. May she forever live in the peace of Jesus Christ.

TIGHE. Peacefully, on March 6, in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, ANNE. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Mary Allen, nieces, other relatives and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.

TOMLIN. On March 10, Sister ENRICA MARY, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, went to meet the Risen Lord. She leaves to mourn her sad loss the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition, her brothers Harry Tomlin and his wife Barbara of California, and Fr Stanley Tomlin, MSSP, her sisters Celia Salisbury of California and Freesia Schembri of Vancouver, Lena, widow of Edward Tomlin, nephews and nieces, besides other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated today at 9 a.m. at St Joseph Convent, St Dominic Square, Rabat, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Fatima Hostel, Sliema, or Dar Sagra Familja, Zabbar, will be greatly appreciated.

Priests To Mark Ordination

Twenty priests who were ordained by Archbishop Michael Gonzi in 1956 will be marking the 50th anniversary of their priesthood with a Thanks-giving Mass to be concelebrated with Archbishop Joseph Mercieca at St John's Co-Cathedral, in Valletta, on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The priests were ordained on March 17. They are: Can Joe Abela - Zejtun, Can Carmelo Aquilina - Birkirkara, Mgr Carmelo Bonavia - Birkirkara, Serafin Borg - Augustinian, Mgr Prof. Vincenz Borg - Birkirkara, Mgr Lawrenz Cachia - Zebbug, Mikielangelo Camilleri - Floriana, J. Henry Cassano - Canada, Mosè Debono - Mellieha, Daniel Farrugia - Gudja, Mgr Victor Grech - Ibrag, Can Anton Mallia - Birkirkara, Can Emanuel Martinelli - Msida, Guzeppi Mifsud - Augustinian, Egidio Mizzi - Franciscan Conventual, Victor Saliba - Lija, Guzeppi Scerri - Zejtun, Gwakkin Schembri - Qormi, Angelo Seychell - Zejtun and Can Guzeppi Zammit - Cospicua.

The original group totalled 31 but 20 are alive today.

Autism conference

Melvin Attard and Yanika Ellul, who help run the Eden Foundation's Step Teens' programme, attended the National Autistic Society International Conference in London with support from HSBC Cares for

Children Fund

The programme is held once every three years.

The two participated in various seminars on sexuality, independent living skills and social programmes. The event concluded with a Day for Autism, which took place in London's Leicester Square.

Prayer Meeting

A prayer meeting for the sanctification of priests and for priestly religious vocations will be held today from 9.45 p.m. onwards at the parish church of the Assumption, in Attard. It will be followed by adoration, which will go on until midnight.

Journalism Institute

The Fund for American Studies is seeking highly qualified journalists and students of journalism to attend the 2nd European Journalism Institute in Prague between July 22 and 29.

The fund's mission is to advance the values of freedom, democracy and a free market economy by sponsoring educational programmes of the highest quality for students with outstanding leadership potential.

These programmes include institutes that prepare young people for leadership by educating them in the theory, practice and benefits of a free society.

EJI was developed in response to a growing recognition that journalists must be empowered with the knowledge and skills needed to objectively report on a variety of business and economic issues.

Car Boot Sale

A car boot sale will be held at the Hamrun Lyceum during the 50-hour bike marathon that will be run from March 24 to 26 in aid of Dar tal-Providenza and the Muscular Dystrophy Group.

The sale will take place on March 25 and 26.

F1 screening

The excitement of Formula One will reach the Valletta Waterfront tomorrow as the first race of the season in Bahrain is shown live on a big screen set up at Pinto Marina.

The screening starts at 12.30 p.m. Entrance is free.
