Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be sidelined for six to eight weeks after suffering a fractured cheekbone in a reserve team game, the club said yesterday. The 33-year-old Norwegian, struggling to revive his career after a long-term knee injury, was injured in an accidental clash with Boro's Ugo Ehiogu.

Solskjaer, who joined United in 1996, has battled to regain fitness from a knee injury which has limited him to a handful of appearances in the last two years. His contract expires at the end of the season.

Solskjaer is a hero at Old Trafford after scoring the injury-time winner in their 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final.
