During an AGM, Malta Squash members were recently told that the number of players practising the sport is on the rise and that new initiatives will be taken to sustain this progress.
A new national league ranking system has been introduced and players will be able to keep up to date through the organisation's website www.maltasquash.com.
Chair Liz Said outlined Malta Squash's aims, namely to continue with coaching activities, increase the number of individuals playing squash, introduce more tournaments, continue with the development of the leagues and enhance the junior scheme.
Meanwhile, national squad training will start shortly. A major decision by the Malta Squash was that only players who take part regularly in training sessions will be eligible for selection.
With the Euro Nations Challenge Cup in Warsaw and the Euro Small Nations tournament in Luxembourg coming up later this year, those training and competing regularly will have a better chance of getting selected.
