Work on the building of a sewage treatment plant in Gozo should be concluded in the beginning of next year, Government Investments Minister Austin Gatt said.

He told Labour MP Charles Buhagiar in reply to a Parliamentary question that work on a plant in the north is to start in the coming weeks, once the required permit is issued by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority. They are expected to be concluded in mid-2007.

A plant in the south is in a preliminary design stage and studies on its environmental impact are to start this year.
