M & E Management Group, a local entertainment company, said it would bring Italian singer Amadeo Minghi over to Malta in May after PRES-Malta, another company meant to engage him, said it won't be doing so after all.

M & E Management said it had contracted the well-known Italian singer and song-writer to perform an open-air concert on May 13.

In February, PRES-Malta had announced a Minghi concert only to say later that he would not be coming due to circumstances beyond their control. Instead they will bring Michele Zarrillo, another Italian singer.

Mario Gatt, the manager responsible for concerts organised by M & E Management, told The Times yesterday the venue would be announced at a press conference to be held on March 14 at the Vivaldi Hotel in St Julians.

"M & E Management Group CEO Massimo Ellul and Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech shall give further details during the press conference," Mr Gatt said when asked which venue had been chosen for the concert.

Minghi, who will be accompanied by his band and crew, is expected to perform all-time hits and songs from his recent album Sud Di Me.

Minghi started his musical career back in the late 1960s. His first album, bearing his name Amadeo Minghi, was released in 1973. In total he released 23 albums in Italian and another three in foreign languages.

A renowned songwriter, Minghi took part in the San Remo Festival together with Mietta and Mariella Nava, both renowned Italian singers.
