A cooperation agreement has been signed by the rector of the University of Malta, Roger Ellul-Micallef, with Akita International University in northern Japan to promote the exchange of students, faculty staff, collaborative research, the development and offering of training programmes, workshops and conferences between the two universities.

Akita International's president, Mineo Nakajima, visited Malta for the signing ceremony.

The Japanese university offers two majors, Global Business and Global Studies and hence will aid both universities' students with an opportunity to work side-by-side.
