Charlene Attard confirmed her rich vein of form at the moment after establishing two national records in the 60 metres and 200 metres events during a two-day junior meeting in Moscow earlier this week.

On Monday, she took part in the shorter dash and qualified for the 'A' final following a sprint of 7.93 seconds.

The Pembroke Athleta girl left her best for the final when she ran home seventh in 7.6 seconds to chop 0.1 of a second from the previous record she had set last month, also in the Russian capital, during a EAA Junior Permit meeting.

But that was not the end of the story for Attard.

Yesterday, she took part in the 200 metres indoors race and twice managed to run faster than the previous national mark of 25.66 set by Celine Pace in Birmingham two years ago.

In the heats, Attard had already eclipsed Pace's record for the distance when she qualified with a 25.54. Then, she was fifth in the final in 25.59.

The records are a huge injection of confidence for Attard who travelled to Russia on the initiative of the Malta Amateur Athletics Association. This week she will compete in the World Indoor Championships to be held at the same venue of the junior meet.

In Russia, Attard is accompanied by coach Xandru Grech.

Last week, they attended a training clinic organised for European regional development countries which is funded by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
